Levine (2016) reported that the differing definitions were causing confusion for healthcare professionals and called for a unified classification system which resulted in the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) developing 10 consensus statements. These outlined the probable causes of skin changes at end of life and suggested the focus of care, in this patient group, to be very important.

A favourite feature of the Wave is the generous platform width, measuring 1900mm x 650mm internally (2130mm x 810mm external), which will accommodate most users. The Wave trolley is a premium solution for bathing in multi-user environments, yet aesthetically designed to look good in the home.
Getting involved – The Competency Framework review
The Department of Health and Social Care recognises that there are often innovations that can remain on the margins, rather than becoming a mainstream way of delivering care and support. The Trusted Assessor model is popular in many localities, where it is relied on as a programme that accelerates access to home adaptations and broader person-centred equipment solutions, freeing up OTs (Occupational Therapists) to focus on more complex assessment cases. There is undoubtedly greater potential for its expansion in both H&SC and more broadly in a range of housing and care settings and services.
The Competency Framework for Trusted Assessors was first published in 2005, its goal was to create a ‘national training framework which is comptency-based, flexible and capable of being delivered in different settings.’ It has been successfully used by many organisations UK-wide as the basis to understand whether a Trusted Assessor has the skills and knowledge required to provide an effective service user-led approach to equipment. TACT is now leading a coordinated review of the Framework working with a range of partners with the goal of publishing a revised publicly available Framework in the next 12 – 18 months. If you would like to be involved, please contact us by phone on 01626 879528 or email us at info@trusted assessing.com to get involved.
